Public art is an important part of creating a sense of place. It provides an effective means to combine an area’s unique qualities by reflecting its history, culture and environment.
Manly provides an amazing natural canvas which provides a unique opportunity to use art, and the support of its creative community, to reinforce the marine and village character of this area.
As one of its special projects Good for Manly Committee Member, Margo Bavinton, who has had extensive experience working in the Arts, has undertaken a general audit of public art in Manly and put together this general discussion paper on the ongoing support of a special Public Arts Program in Manly.
