Another Ombudsman's Report for Manly Council

Here we go again! This week Council tabled the latest report released by the Ombudsman which is again very critical of the Council's handling of formal and serious complaints, and in particular the General Manager's inappropriate handling of such a complaint and the repeated lack of due process in such matters.

How many Ombudsman reports does it take to get some real action for change?
What do you think should be done to deal with this inappropriate behaviour that seems to be systemic in Manly Council?

This is disgusting behaviour from anyone, let alone a General Manager of our Council.

Just as with the other Ombudsman's Report last year, Condition 2 under the heading of Recommendations reads:

"I recommend that the elected Council reviews the performance of the General Manager in light of the information in this report."

Pardon me, but didn't Manly Councillors renew the General Manager's contract for four years a couple of months ago?

Then Recommendation No. 3

"I recommend that the elected Council invites the Division of Local Government, Department of Premier and Cabinet, to provide training to all Councillors regarding the appropriate management of the General Manager."
