The debate went on for 2 hours as part of the total 10 year Strategic Plan which included the controversial 2015 Plan. The Good For Manly campaign to stop the Oval car park & save Whistler Street car park was successful in slowing down the process and getting an independent due diligence review of the projects, more consultation & therefore more time to get the facts known. This resulted in a compromise resolution put forward by the Liberals which is why Good for Manly's Councillor, Candy Bingham, supported the motion. Without our campaign the construction of the Oval car park would now be a binding, financial commitment. The resolution at the June 3 Council meeting has bought us more time.

I attended the meeting at Manly CC. I have since Ben out of town. I was pleased to hear that the Council vote was delayed. But for how long and what additional info are they going to provide. A few of my fellow ratepayers are suggesting that a Rally voicing our protest about the cavalier manner in which HW treats the ratepayers and the councillors. What do you think?

It seems that Henry Wong and Jean Hay care nothing for what ratepayers and what people in neighbouring Warringah suburbs think because not only do we not want Manly to become a pedestrian mall nor do we want to lose Whistler car park and we really don't want a car park under the oval but a lot of us also don't want changes made to Manly Boy Charles swim centre. There are enough under cover swimming pools in the area, it's really nice to have the outdoor relaxed swim centre in Manly to go to for those of us that don't have pools in our yards.
