Latest news from Westfield is plans to further expand Warringah Mall with an additional 80 - 100 shops and more parking. The plans, which have already been approved, allow for a new parallel mall linking between the supermarkets and Myer, as well as a new multi-deck car park. Many locals believe that the opening of Warringah Mall was the start of the bleed of good general shopping out of Manly and that this expanded Mall will further contribute to that. Although unfortunately we continue to see the closure of small shops in Manly, the area is undergoing a renaissance, becoming the place to go for restaurants & cafes with many high-profile establishments recently opening in the area. Manly Council has also just put up for tender the lease for the Old Kiosk at Shelley Beach and the name of the winning tenderer is expected is to named shortly. I'm sure locals will be delighted with the winning tender.

All the more reason Manly should have free 3 hour parking in the 4 Parking Stations.

Free 2 hour parking in Manlys parking stations should be increased to 3 hours to encourage more people to shop in Manly. I know of many people at present who don't shop in Manly because they find that the 2hour free parking limit is not long enough.

Why do we need to mall to increase in size, what a waste. I am so sick of bigger and bigger shopping malls, all with the same shops. We are losing the individuality of daily life and the niceties that go with that.

because the parking in manly is so restrictive it does impact greatly on businesses .. as a customer, a small business owner, a employee and a volunteer all in manly - parking is the single issue ..otherwise manly is awesome .. so an attitude of "oh no we will loose customers to the mall" while having poorly managed parking in manly is hypocritical ..one very easy and cheap way to provide more parking is to have free bike parking in designated areas to stop them taking up car spots and to paint bays so that 5 cars can park in 5 spots not 3 … and modify restrictions to all end at 5pm .. 4 hrs once away from beach front and at least 3 hrs free in carparks .. good for locals ..good for business!
